“Badass” is not badass!

So, obviously the one word you never want to use when you’re trying to say something is cool is “badass.” I’ve had to learn that lesson the hard way (thanks me_kibby!) and it just seems that wherever I turn, I get further confirmation that the word “badass” is just fucking lame.

For example…

Dooce.com

Another link that shall forever remain on the blogroll. I love this blog, which is really weird because all this lady does for the most part is talk about her daughter, Leta. Usually, I detest when people go on and on about their kids like they’re the best things since sliced bread. I’m sorry, but you’ll never get me to buy into the whole notion of child rearing. It’s never going to work. Kids are definitely not in my future. The bloodline ends with me unfortunately and that may be the most selfish thing you’ve every heard, but hey, that’s me.

The reason this blog is different is because it’s about the funniest groups of progeny stories I have ever read. I just love the sense of humor and biting sarcasm. Here’s a sample and if you’re not convinced that this is some of the best stuff you’ve read… well then, okay.

Celebrity Cowboy Gossip Blog

So, I was perusing my blogroll which is something I haven’t done  in awhile. I thought it a good idea to check that I still like what’s being said on each site, because at any minute I could be linked to a Nazi, anti-semitism site and that’s totally not me.

Celebrity Cowboy Gossip is still pretty funny. I came across this little snippet about Lindsay Lohan and Steve-O. I just thought it was hilarious, especially the part where Lindsay is referred to as “Lilo.” From this day forward, whenever I talk about her, that’s what she shall be called.

The Topic of the Day is “Hi, My Name is…”

Hi. My name is Ty and I’m a struggling student. Wait, go back. Let me stress the struggling part. Currently, I have about four dollars to my name and I’ve maxed out one of my credit cards. I am about to start my fifth quarter at PC and I am still working on how I’m supposed to pay for that. I’m pre-approved for a $10,000 student loan which will put me in even more debt that I’m not sure I will ever be able to pay back.

I work part-time at Super Target and just found out I’m off all next week, because “business is slow and we don’t really need as many workers right now.” Really, assholes? And, just what am I supposed to do for money, hmm? And, how are we not busy when we are just about to enter the holiday season? Needless to say, I am also looking for another job.

It’s times like these, that I almost think that it would of have been better to still be a collector. Almost. Then I remember how much I fucking hated it and wanted to kill myself everyday, but… damn, I sure do miss the money! If any of you readers have a lead on a part-time gig, flexible enough to deal with my schizophrenic school schedule, please let me know… or feel free to bitch about how broke you are as well. I’d like to feel like I’m not the only one.

Tourism At Home

September 24, 2007 cwriter79 Leave a comment

So, I’m writing from St. Pete and I’m having a wonderful time catching up with folk and seeing how much things have changed around here, which leads me into my next post.

My mom, my aunt, and three of my cousins decided to do a weekend getaway to Orlando, FL: the heart of Florida tourism and the home of Mickey Mouse… well, maybe his summer home, because I hear the California home is nice, too.  Now, I’ve been to Orlando plenty of times, but each time I’m always amazed at how it always has something new and never really looks the same way twice. Inevitably, I become one of those people, pressed face first against a minivan window, who can’t stop saying what an amazing place Orlando is and how I should live here.

Amazed at this fact, I wondered if I could be tourist in my own hometown. Could I have the same sense of wonderment that I experienced in a foreign place where I reside everyday? So, when I get back to the “A,” I’m going to squander the remainder of my school break to answer this question. Maybe, I’ll bring my camera along and document some stuff and put it on here if I remember. In the meantime, here are some pictures from Orlando!
